An unspeakable act is recorded onto a VHS tape by an unknown individual but eventually lost.
It is found and recorded over by a wealthy citizen with an ever greater perversion of humanity on screen.
It finds its way to a self-proclaimed horror-fanatic teenager. They wretch and shiver at the video's TV signal, and record a classic horror movie over it, in hopes of clearing their mind from the depraved pictures, which unbeknownst to them, are already burned into their very consciousness.
The tape finds its way into a garage sale and into the possession of a second-hand media store owner. They watch the “tame and derivative” media and quickly record over it with a personal home video of footage that can only be referred to as the most questionable of legal nature.
On and on this continues for an age.
The tape is warped and distorted, and yet still compels its current possessor to watch and record over, as if in a never-ending cycle of misery and morbid curiosity.
Eventually, the tape finds its way to us. The quality is fragmented and scrambled, lost of any semblance of its origin.
But there’s something hidden in the tape. It is no longer a video.
It is alive.
It is cursed.
It is Kodoku.
